Elena Arechabala (Madrid 1957)
Elena first came into contact with yoga in 1983 in Barcelona, but it was in 1992 when she started practicing it continuously and seriously under the expert guidance of Marta Mahou in Madrid.
In 1999 she moved to Tel-Aviv (Israel) where she began her yoga teacher training with renowned teachers such as Tzippy Wienner, Gabriella Giubillaro, Anne Catherine Leterre and Nancy Gardosh. In 2002, in Tel-Aviv, she obtained her Official Certificate as teacher of the BKS Iyengar method.
She has benefited from the teachings of great masters such as Geeta and Prahant Iyengar (RIMNI Institute, Pune, India) for which she travelled to India in 2005. As a teacher she continues to learn on an on-going basis, through intensive courses with Marta Mahou and other masters of the Iyengar tradition such as Gabriella Giubillaro, José María Vigar, Manusso Manos and Angela Farmer, among others.
She regularly attends training courses on Anatomy of Movement and Indian Philosophy.
In 2005 she began to practice meditation. In 2008 she joined the practitioners of Vipassana meditation and participates in annual retreats under this tradition.
She began to teach asana yoga in Tel-Aviv and, since 2003, teaches in Yoga Studio in Madrid. In her classes she encourages “inward listening”, stimulating students to progressively explore their interior through conscious practice, thus enhancing health, flexibility and harmony within a balanced and joyful mind.
