Art, literature and thought in India

India: the cradle of yoga.
If you ever wondered why yoga originated in India, what lies under this ancestral practice, what the first pioneer yogis sought and what today’s masters attain through yoga: you will find most answers to these issues in this new and unique course that Yoga Studio offers in Madrid.
The course concisely broaches the vast and ancient Indian culture, from its origins to our days. Among many other contributions, India bestowed yoga to the world as an expression of its culture and way of interpreting life.
The West has adopted yoga practice given its many benefits, but often without understanding the context and wisdom behind its spiritual and cultural roots. Through a better understanding of Indian culture, in addition to broadening our horizons, we will make the most of our yoga practice and reap it in depth.
The course is given by Emilio García Buendía, an expert in Indian philosophy and culture. In addition to holding Law and Philosophy degrees, Emilio is a graduate of the Instituto de Ciencias de la Religión (Institute for Religious Sciences) of Madrid’s Complutense University; he has been a researcher in the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Oxford University and will soon read his doctoral thesis on Patañjali Yogasütras.
The course is imparted over two quarters with classes held every two weeks, on Mondays, each lasting approximately 90 minutes.
